The Skills Gap

What is the Skills Gap?
The gap between what employers need their employees to be able to do, and what those employees can actually do, on their first day of work.

What industries have a skills gap?

The skills gap is seen around the country in:

  • construction
  • manufacturing
  • mechanical
  • engineering
  • health care
  • food service
  • retail jobs

These industries are just the tip of the iceberg. Any industry has the risk of experiencing a skills gap if potential employee skills don’t match the employer’s needs.
